Word Illustrations - Sketches

When designing word illustrations the goal is to find a successful visual metaphor that captures the spirit of the word. For this exercise the words I chose were "Tiger," "Shred," and "Light." I wanted the words to challenge me. Shred and Light were challenging words because it was difficult to come up with many ideas for the the word. I felt like I landed on some successful ideas early on in the sketching process. 

You can see in these early sketches for "shred" and "light" I found an idea that I like pretty early in the process. Once I fond an idea I liked I found it challenging to come up with new ideas. 

   When designing for the word "Tiger" the process took much longer. I needed to create many versions before landing on an idea I thought was successful.
